Chapter Synopsis
The Sins of the Father
Julian, deeply affected by an abusive childhood, considers cloning himself after years of emotional isolation. The idea starts as absurdity, but eventually becomes a lifeline—one that could redeem the damage done by his adoptive parents and give him someone to love unconditionally.
The Fair-haired Child
ordi, Julian’s twin, lives a parallel life full of warmth, humor, and unconditional love from his adoptive parents. Though his upbringing contrasts sharply with Julian’s, he too wonders about his birth origins and eventually takes an Ancestry DNA test—a decision that changes everything
Testing, Results, and More!
Julian goes through with cloning and becomes a father. At the same time, he submits a DNA test that uncovers shocking news: he has a twin and two half-sisters. Overcome with emotion, he reaches out, beginning a new chapter filled with discovery and hope.
The Reunion
Julian and Jordi meet for the first time in a deeply emotional and transformative reunion. Despite their vastly different pasts, the connection is instant and profound. Julian introduces his clone-son Jules, and the two begin building a future grounded in newfound brotherhood.
Meet John K. Burk
As a baby boomer born in 1950, John was captivated by President John F. Kennedy’s vision of a New World Order grounded in peace. This early inspiration led him to join the U.S. Peace Corps in 1976, where he became a teacher trainer in central Liberia. In the evenings, he extended his efforts by teaching basic English literacy skills to tailors, taxi drivers, and construction workers. His commitment to grassroots education and cross-cultural learning later earned him a consulting role with Afrolit Society, a Nairobi-based think tank offering consultancy services across English-speaking Africa. In 1980, John and his wife, Deborah, continued their work as teacher trainers in central Zimbabwe during the country’s transition to independence.
Dr. Burk’s expertise in the dynamics of family systems, identity formation, and trauma healing informs every chapter of DITTO, making it not only a compelling story but also a deeply reflective experience for readers. When he’s not writing, Dr. Burk is a mentor, speaker, and advocate for mental wellness. He believes in the power of narrative to heal and in the importance of telling stories that matter. Through DITTO, he invites readers to explore their own paths to redemption and emotional growth.
